When you’re pregnant, your hair is full and luscious, adding to that beautiful glow your bundle of joy brings. But before you know it, you’re holding your bouncing baby in your arms, bringing him or her home, and suddenly, it’s as if you left that special glow at the hospital. And in the blink of an eye, or at least it sometimes seems this way, your hair starts to thin and lose its shine.

It’s because while the average person loses up to 100 hairs a day, pregnancy hormones, especially estrogen and progesterone, keep those hairs from falling out. So your hair literally was thicker when you were pregnant—because you had way more strands of hair coming from your head than the average person.
